UNC Cheer Team
In 2022, Cheer officially became a part of UNC athletics and continues to support UNC athletics by creating an exciting game-day environment for all Bears fans. The University of Northern Colorado Cheer Team can be seen at all home UNC Football, Volleyball, Wrestling and Men's and Women's Basketball games. UNC Cheer plays a pivotal role in our game day atmosphere and in the community.Â
The co-ed squad plays a pivotal role in creating an exciting game day atmosphere and can be seen year-round representing UNC throughout the community. Tryouts are held annually in the Spring.

Sugar Bears Dance Team
The UNC Sugar Bears Dance Team was developed in 1976 as a student-run program as a way for students to continue their love for dance and performing while in college. In 2023, Sugar Bears officially became a part of UNC athletics and continues to support UNC athletics by creating an exciting game-day environment for all Bears fans. The team is made up of 16 - 20 dancers and performs mostly Game-day, Pom, Hip Hop, and Jazz style routines. The mission of the UNC Sugar Bear Dance Team is to support, promote, and represent the University of Northern Colorado through the proper promotion of school spirit, pride, tradition, and student involvement while also creating a safe space for our student-athletes to develop skills in leadership, coaching, and professionalism.

Pride of the Rockies Marching Band
Ah! Well I Remember! The UNC Alma Mater, "Ah! Well I Remember" is played by the Pride of the Rockies Marching Band prior to each UNC Football game. The Pride of the Rockies shows their Bear Pride by playing in the stands and on the field during pregame and halftime and by representing UNC at various community events throughout the fall. The Pride of the Rockies is comprised of both music and non-music majors who love band and take pride in creating energy at UNC Football games.Â

The Pep Band
The energy epicenter of UNC men's and women's basketball games is UNC's The Growl pep band. The Growl play at home basketball games in Bank of Colorado Arena and is comprised of both music and non-music majors. Members receive food at each game, official The Growl gear and more while having a blast and helping create UNC's home-court advantage!
